HARBEL, Liberia, West Africa – (July 25, 2006)- The Management of Firestone Liberia says, it appreciates its employees and the services they have and continue to render in various areas that have kept the company functional over the years.

Speaking at a well-attended service awards program held on the night of Tuesday, July 18, 2006, in the Division 44 School Gymnasium, the Industrial Relations Manager of Firestone Liberia, Mr. J. Feay Roberts said the recipients deserved the awards because of the sense of commitment and dedication to duty they have exhibited over the years.

Mr. Roberts also noted that the employees have over the years performed their respective duties to the delight of management and as such, was proud to show its deepest appreciation for the interest they have taken in their various areas of assignments.

The Firestone Industrial Relations Manager, who was seeing beaming with smiles, further urged every employee of Firestone to remain committed in the discharge of their respective functions and work along with Management in opening what he called “a new page” in the history of the company.

Mr. Roberts then expressed the hope that the service awards program would serve as an encouragement to other employees who were not part of it to create interest in their respective assigned duties as exhibited by the awards recipients.

He told the honorees that Management will continue to do all it can in ensuring that improved social services are provided to employees and their families.

Earlier, the Personnel Operations Manager of Firestone Liberia, Mrs. Clara Reeves Lymas, who introduced the program and welcomed the honorees, expressed thanks and appreciation to the employees for the high level of discipline they have exhibited on the job over the years.

Mrs. Lymas also buttressed that Management will continue to work toward seeking the welfare of all of its employees. She further expressed the hope that the 96 recipients of the awards will continue to remain committed and dedicated to duty.

Employees who were awarded have served the company for five, ten, fifteen, twenty and twenty-five years respectively.

Tuesday’s program was attended by an array of top managers from various departments of Firestone Liberia including Mr. Washington T. Waka of Quality Control, Boakai Jones of Block Rubber, and Rudolph Johnson of Latex, among others.

The Firestone Medical Center at Duside is hosting volunteer doctors from Children's Surgery International to perform cleft lip, cleft palate and other surgeries and treatment for underprivileged children in Liberia.
