HARBEL, Liberia, West Africa (June 9, 2006) -
A Liberian lawmaker has commended the Management of Firestone Liberia for reopening the Division
5 Elementary School outside Harbel, with an enrollment of 157 students.
Representative Saah Gbollie, who is also Co-chairman of the Margibi County Legislative Caucus, said that he was gratified to learn about the formal reopening of the Division 5 Elementary School which has been closed since the outbreak of the Liberian civil war due to the severe damage done to its facilities.
The Margibi County Representative who is also a graduate of the Division 5 Elementary School said parents need to utilize the opportunity provided through the Management of Firestone by sending their children to school so as to make maximum use of the facilities that the company has invested so much in. He promised to visit the institution shortly.


Speaking during the program, the Superintendent of the Firestone School System, Mrs. Dwede D. Hoto described the reopening of the school as another clear manifestation of Management’s commitment to education. Mrs. Hoto also called on parents to ensure that their children are registered to enroll in the school for a better future.
The Principal of the Division 5 Elementary School, Mrs. Cecelia Kolleh, on behalf of the teachers pledged their unflinching commitment to molding the minds of the students whom she referred to as future leaders of Liberia.

School and FAWUL authorities, who participated in the reopening program, disclosed that the current enrollment of 157 students is expected to increase upon the completion of the ongoing family registration.
Several parents who attended the reopening program expressed satisfaction that the Management of Firestone has reopened the Division 5 School.
The program which took place on Monday, May 29, 2006, was witnessed by an array of parents from Division 5 and its surrounding areas, representatives of Management, officials of the Education Department and FAWUL officials, including its President Jean Stewart, among others.
