Brick by Brick: The Business of Rebuilding Liberia

Two Cadets Join Firestone’s Harbel Cutlass

As part of a program organized by the Liberia Ship and Corporate Registry (LISCR), Firestone Liberia will welcome two new cadets for a single voyage on its Harbel Cutlass vessel. The two cadets will set sail on the Firestone Liberia ship sometime in April of this year.

Two other aspiring Liberian seafarers previously joined the crew of the Harbel Tapper. As part of a program developed by the Liberian Bureau of Maritime Affairs, Daniel Tarr and Emmanuel Mezoh Dolakeh set sail on Nov. 27, 2008, from the Freeport of Monrovia. Both men will receive their bachelor’s degrees in marine electronic engineering from the Regional Maritime University in Ghana this year.

The LISCR program and the Liberian Bureau of Maritime Affairs internship are both designed to provide hands-on training and experience to seafarers hoping to enter the Liberian maritime industry.

We look forward to continuing our support for such a deserving program.
