The Inquirer Names Firestone Liberia "Company of the Year"
The Liberian newspaper The Inquirer has named Firestone Liberia "Company of the Year" in its annual "Personalities of the Year" article. The newspaper solicited nominations from the public in categories that included politicians, business associations and public servants, among others.
The section of the article devoted to Firestone Liberia reads as follows:
The INQUIRER, after a discreet search to find its Company of the Year, landed in Harbel and selected Firestone Liberia as its Company of the Year. It is no secret that in 2008, Firestone continues to carry out improvement starting with its collective bargaining agreement with its employees.
The company continues to move up the rungs of the ladder by improving the working condition of its workers, its educational system, housing facilities, and recently the reopening of the Duside Hospital that has been down for years due to the civil war. We applaud this company for a job well done in 2008 and hope such goodwill would continue in the future.
On behalf of the approximately 7,000 Firestone Liberia employees, we are pleased to receive this recognition for a job well done and will keep up the good work in 2009 and in years to come.
Firestone Liberia has made an appearance in The Inquirer's Personalities of the Year article the past two years as well. It was named Concession of the Year for 2006, and in 2007, our own Rufus Karmorh, Public Affairs Manager, was Person of the Year.
