Brick by Brick: The Business of Rebuilding Liberia

U.N. Secretary General Visits Liberia

The international spotlight was on Liberia this week as the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon made his first trip to the west African nation. The U.N. Secretary-General spoke passionately about issues facing the Liberian people and the importance of meeting Millenium Development Goals, such as reducing poverty and eradicating HIV/AIDS. Read a transcript of the Secretary-General's remarks.

Firestone supports the Secretary-General's efforts and helps decrease poverty by providing housing, medical care and food for its nearly 7,000 Liberian employees and their tens of thousands of dependents. Firestone has also aided in the effort to eliminate HIV/AIDS through treatment and education programs hosted by medical professionals from the Firestone Medical Center.
